My MADU Experience
My experience with MADU or Make A Difference United changed my entire world. I learnt that there are many people who need help and that giving enriches one’s life. I learnt that it is not a waste of time or money to participate in charity work, especially when you love what you’re doing. I learnt that putting a smile on someone’s face is the best feeling.
Being an active member in MADU has taught me to how to manage my time and communicate effectively, especially during the planning stages of each activity. Despite my hectic schedule as a college student, I managed to dedicate time for all MADU related activities and do well in my exams.
MADU has also taught me that life is not about how much we give but about how much love we put into giving. I learnt this when I helped the children in Surau Al-bukhary with their school subjects. I spent many happy and fulfilling weekends tutoring them. I realized that not everybody has access to good education, and I was happy to share my knowledge with them. Never had I imagined that charity work could be so fun, especially when your efforts prove to be fruitful. I taught the children Mathematics and it gave me immense satisfaction to see my students’ Mathematics skills improve. I finally understand why teachers love to see their students improve in class.
To many people, life is a quest as they all strive for something, whether it is a good job, a big house, lots of money or happiness. My MADU experience has given me a different meaning about the quest of life. Life is not just about striving towards a single goal; the quest of life should also be about being useful, honourable and compassionate. Hence, I am very grateful for my MADU experience. It has shaped me into the person I am today and taught me many life lessons.
